Nepal Emergency Flood Relief
Stand With Rasuwa
Families in Rasuwa are cut off and going without basic supplies. 100% of your donation goes directly to our local partner, Sustainable Mountain Initiative (SMI), an organization based in and led by people from Rasuwa.
The Plan
Mountain Climate Fund has worked in Rasuwa for years alongside Sustainable Mountain Initiative (SMI), a local organization founded and staffed by people from the district. In the wake of the devastating flooding, SMI is coordinating directly with community leaders to get essential supplies (food, salt, cooking oil, hygiene products, including menstrual supplies, and cash assistance) to the families who need them most.
Mountain Climate Fund is running this campaign on SMI's behalf. We're not the ones doing the relief work on the ground — SMI is, because they're from Rasuwa and already know these communities. Our role is to raise support from our network and pass it directly to them.
After several years of research and scoping, we were about to launch a climate-resilient agriculture project in Rasuwa. Given the current urgent and immediate need for relief operations in the region, we would like to support relief efforts, especially those driven by local organizations.
How this campaign works
SMI, based in and made up of people from Rasuwa, is distributing relief supplies to affected households.
MCF is fundraising on SMI's behalf, drawing on our existing network and partnership.
MCF takes no administrative or staff fee. The only deduction is the transaction fees from 3rd parties, and everything else goes directly to SMI.
What your gift supports
Food, salt, and cooking oil for isolated households.
Hygiene supplies, including menstrual products for women and girls.
Direct cash assistance to families who have lost a loved one who provided for them.
SMI's coordination with local leaders to reach the most affected families first.

September 10 Update
Dear Mountain Climate Fund Team and Donors,
I would like to share a brief update on our ongoing relief efforts in Rasuwa.
Today, the SMI team distributed essential relief materials and supplies to flood-affected families who are facing serious difficulties following the recent floods.
As we continue our field visits, we are identifying families with the greatest and most urgent needs.Based on what we are seeing directly in the communities, SMI will now give particular priority to the most vulnerable households, including:
-Families who have lost loved ones in the floods
-Children who have lost one or both parents and are without adequate family support
-Single mothers who are caring for their children alone
-Pregnant women, particularly those who have lost their husbands
-Other families who are facing severe financial and livelihood difficulties as a result of the disaster
During our visits, we are meeting families personally and listening to their immediate needs so that the available support can reach those who need it most. In addition to essential supplies, we are also exploring targeted financial assistance for bereaved and especially vulnerable families.
We are deeply grateful to the Mountain Climate Fund and all our supporters for standing with the people of Rasuwa during this very difficult time. Your support is making a meaningful difference to families who have lost their homes, loved ones, livelihoods, and sense of security.
With sincere appreciation and warm regards,
Bipin
September 30 Update
Dear MCF Team and All Helping hands,
Tashi Delek!
I hope everyone is doing well.
I would like to share an update on SMI’s relief activities for flood-displaced families in Santibazar, Nuwakot.
First Relief Distribution:
SMI has already distributed essential relief supplies to affected families, including rice, clothes, kitchen sets, and cooking pots. Fans were also provided for families staying in temporary tents. According to our field reports, many displaced people have moved from higher-altitude areas to Nuwakot, which is at a much lower elevation of around 600 meters. The warmer conditions have made it difficult for some families to stay comfortably in the tents.
Current Situation:
Some families have now moved out of the holding center and are staying in their own temporary tents. SMI continues to monitor their needs and provide essential support based on our field assessments.
Next Relief Program – October 3:
SMI is organizing the next round of relief support on October 3. Mr. Abe and the WWU student group will join us for this distribution. The main focus of this round will be warm winter jackets and other essential items for flood-affected families, particularly those who are most vulnerable.
We will continue to assess the situation in the field and prioritize support according to the families’ most urgent needs.
Thank you very much for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Bipin
